Quantum Ludo is Not the Same as Classic Ludo… Just as with particles, the tokens (or "ludocles") on this board will follow quantum rules, ignoring the laws of our physical world. Are you daring enough to play?

Quantum Rules and Laws:

Wave Function Collapse Principle:

By now, you probably know that particles behave differently when observed compared to when they are not observed. In Quantum Ludo, if all players avert their gaze from the board and you move your ludocle 10 spaces without getting caught, the move stands. If you’re caught during the move, you stay where you are; if you’re caught later, the 10 spaces gained are perfectly legal.

Quantum Entanglement Principle:

We also know that particles are interconnected in such a way that what happens to one particle instantly affects the other. How does this affect your ludocles? If one of your ludocle is captured on the board, all your other ludocles that are out of the base are also captured and must return home (ludocles positioned in your own color corridor are exempt). The player who captured the ludocles advances 10 spaces multiplied by the number of tokens sent home.

Superposition Principle:

In classic Ludo, if you roll a 6 three times in a row, your token immediately returns to the base. However, superposition tells us that while unobserved, the particle (or the die, in this case) is in multiple states at once. Therefore, the third time you roll the die after getting two sixes, you can bet whether the next roll will be a six. If you guess correctly (say it will be a 6, and it is a 6), you advance 6 additional spaces. If you guess incorrectly (say it will be a 6, and it’s a 3), that ludocle returns to its base regardless of whether it wasn’t actually a 6.

Particle-Wave Duality:

Everyone knows that when there are two tokens of the same color blocking a space, rival tokens can’t go through that spot. However, in Quantum Ludo, since the tokens can behave as both particles and waves, the block can be bypassed if you roll a 2 (due to duality, get it?). If you roll a 2, you get to roll the die one more time.

Classic Rules and Laws (The Known Ones):

  • You need a 5 to take a token out of your base.
  • You count 20 spaces when you get a token into the finish line.
  • Your token is safe on the safe spaces or where you have two tokens of your color.
  • If you roll a 6, you roll the die again.
