Our Network, Our Rules
When we use social media, we somehow know that we’re making a pact with the devil. Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and other technocrats use our data and the information we’ve given them for free to fatten their wallets even more, but we don’t care. As long as we can spend hours scrolling on Instagram... it’s all good. However, there is a way to use social networks in a decentralized and interconnected way, a way where we wouldn’t have to make a pact with the devil; yes, you guessed it: the fediverse.

Technology for Eating Well and Caring for the Planet
The way we produce and consume food is changing. Technology has entered the food industry as an ally to make it more efficient and sustainable. But do you really know how innovation can help us care for the planet without giving up the pleasure of eating?

In Jon Cortázar and Relevo’s worlds
Jon Cortázar has been making video games since he was 12 years old. And he says it like it’s nothing. Back then, there were no courses, degrees, or YouTube tutorials to teach you how to make video games, so he decided to learn on his own. He also mentions this with ease. Unsurprisingly, he and his partner Aitor Zumelzu founded Relevo, “a classic Bilbao studio”. They opened their doors in 2009 and have been creating, collaborating, and entertaining people for “a good” 15 years. We’ve talked about a lot of things related to the fascinating and entertaining world of video games, but, as always, we wanted to start at the beginning.

Beñat Gaztelurrutia and the Pleasure of Seeing Each Other at the Durangoko Azoka
Durango becomes the center of Basque culture throughout the December holiday weekend. This multi-day event, which brings together people of all ages, first opened its doors in 1965 at a porch in Durango, aiming to bring Basque culture (repressed by the dictatorship) closer to its neighbors. Today, despite many social and technological changes, the fair has evolved significantly, but the desire to keep Basque culture alive and thriving remains undiminished.

Digital Spaces for Democracy: Osoigo's Proposal
If there’s one thing we know about this 2023, it’s that it will be an election year in Spain marked by the economic and social situation that the country is currently undergoing, in a country that views its political representatives with increasing skepticism, and that doesn’t feel sufficiently heard.

Biscay and its footprint in space - Interview with Satlantis
Houston, we have a problem… Satlantis is unbelievable. This company based in Leioa is all about Earth observation through satellites and selling top-notch cameras to whoever needs them. Yeah, you read that right, space tech right here in Biscay. Talk about shooting for the stars, huh? With Juan Tomás Hernani (CEO) and Eider Ocerin (Customer Delivery Director) leading the charge, we're unraveling the mysteries of a company with some seriously exciting, out-of-this-world projects. Buckle up and let's hear what they've got to say:

Can creativity be the foundation for a technological society?
There’s a lot of talk about what we, those of us from Biscay, are like. What makes us such authentic people? Why are we so… you know, so uniquely us?
We could say that this “something that nobody can put their finger on” comes largely from our position on the map: we’re the north of the south and the south of the north.

Let’s reuse!
It’s not very well known that Biscay is a technological powerhouse when it comes to recycling; fundamentally, industrial recycling, which basically means that we take advantage of waste from manufacturing to create materials that would otherwise have to be extracted through mining operations.

Diversity adds spice to investments
"Talent wins games, but teamwork and smarts win championships."
This gem from the iconic former U.S. basketball player, Michael Jordan, lays it out plain and simple. It's not just about teamwork; it's about a coordinated team effort where everyone brings their A-game—each with their own role, position, and distinct identity, all geared toward one common goal: winning championships. It's like a hoops symphony where everyone's playing their part to hit that sweet victory note.

Success Stories: Biscay’s GovTech Start-ups
Start-ups that are exclusively GovTech, in the sense of creating technologies on behalf of governments, are few and far between in the world. What do abound are newly created companies that have developed solutions that can be used by governments and other organizations. Proof of this are the results of the three calls recently put out by the Government of Biscay to find start-ups that provide solutions for public needs.

The Industrial Metaverse and Start-ups in Biscay
Although the metaverse is more of a commercial hook than anything else at the moment, the truth is that there are start-ups in Biscay that offer related services in the industrial and medical fields. Most of them were already doing this even before the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, began to use the Meta brand, changing the name of his company. These start-ups aren’t just a fad.
