    Agur, GAFAM

As soon as I open one eye after waking up, I realize I have a massive hangover. What time is it? Crap, I remember I made brunch plans with my friends at 11, did I oversleep?

Have You Read the Terms and Conditions?

There is no consensus on where to situate the birth of the term "globalization." Linked to the economy, some argue that we can trace the origin and development of globalization back to the 16th century, at the dawn of the expeditions led from Europe, which marked the beginning of a globally connected economy.

The decisions you make today will determine your tomorrow: choose your own future

    April 25, 2073

Today is my birthday. I wake up with a pleasant tingling sensation all over my body. It has been two years since I started using the exomuscular suit even while sleeping. It is a suit made of a fabric interwoven with nanoscopic intelligent fibers that provide mobility to my deteriorated century-old body. I know this decision undermined my intention to maintain my muscle mass, but other people my age started doing it long ago, and despite everything, they have retained their autonomy. Even so, I still don’t like the idea of depending on it to live.

    Passing Without Leaving a Trace

Technological advancements have transformed the way we live, produce, and consume. But they also bring a major challenge: making it sustainable. Undoubtedly, innovation can drive the ecological transition and improve our relationship with the planet, but it also generates a significant environmental footprint.

Culture built through a STEAM lens

The world we live in doesn’t stop. Time seems to slip through our fingers, and culture, caught in the rush, often seems to blur. Today’s pace, driven by the speed of information and technology, has fundamentally changed the way we interact with our surroundings and, above all, with each other. Technology undeniably gives us new tools to share and create, yet it also speeds up cultural consumption and virtualizes our relationships. Shared experiences now often feel shallower than they once did, when they connected us more genuinely to our culture.

    Blessed and Wonderful Particles!

Welcome to the ninth edition of BizkaiaTech Magazine! Although we have discussed many topics related to science and technology, let's take a look back to our first issue titled Kuantum’s spelled with a “K”. Exactly, we are going to talk about quantum again. The future we imagined three years ago is now much closer to becoming a reality thanks to the tireless efforts of everyone involved in this field.

    Quantum Ludo

Quantum Ludo is Not the Same as Classic Ludo… Just as with particles, the tokens (or "ludocles") on this board will follow quantum rules, ignoring the laws of our physical world. Are you daring enough to play?

    Quantum in Your Living Room

Everyone remembers school science experiments because, along with sports day (and the last day of school, oops), it used to be the best day of the school year. The volcanoes, the balloons that didn't pop when pricked, the stacked cups, the water and oil… oh, what we’d give to go back…

    2084 A World Out There

OCTOBER, 2032: the overpopulation of cities has pushed society to its limits. Prices, inflation, a lack of economic stability, and pollution are the perfect breeding ground for riots. The prelude to a revolution.

    Slow down to speed up

With one eye in the microscope and one in the telescope. In each issue, we put our neurons to work to discover and propose interesting topics for BizkaiaTech Magazine. We approach it as a challenge, wanting to bring different topics to the table that spark conversation and leave readers intrigued. With this issue, we hope that those much-needed and urgent debates will emerge, ones that are coherent with a world as complex as the one we live in today, ones that are needed so that, together, through dialogue, we can all build a better future.

The right to quality of life

Why kid ourselves? People are huge fans of a good dystopia. Lines at the movies for Oppenheimer (2023) (that flick about the Manhattan Project starring Cillian Murphy), sensational headlines across different outlets predicting an apocalypse brought on by artificial intelligence and robots, and the classic family dinner where someone brings up the topic of "gaming consoles." "Back in the day, we played outside," says your uncle Kepa, throwing shade at the console you're hooked on.

    Diverse realities

The whole team has tried to approach the topic of this magazine with respect and friendliness towards the community of people with disabilities. The language we've used in our issue 7 is backed by the “Inclusive Language Manual” provided by COCEMFE (Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities).

    The magical hands

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a monster nobody dared to speak of. It was an exceedingly wicked creature, a monster that thrived on the misery and loneliness of people. Something utterly vile and filled with hatred, something no one wanted anywhere near.

    All together now

There are times when we have everything it takes to be successful and happy; or, at least this is true if we conceive of success and happiness as we have been taught to. But… if everything is just fine, what’s missing? Surely, you’ve heard, or even uttered, this phrase at some point. Well, let’s say that something quite like this happens when leading projects.

    GovTech: Redesigning the Government

We face the challenge of redesigning the model of society, of government, and of civil service. We must shift from a static model to a dynamic one in which it’s more important to focus on what society really needs rather than “what I can offer as a government.” We have to begin to ask ourselves: “What do citizens need?”.

    The Square

A place where you can be. A large square where there are kids running around, and people who have lived in the neighborhood all their lives, playing pétanque. You, having a beer with your friends, while young people dressed in punk fashion play the guitar. An open space where everyone can create their little place in the world, yet live together in perfect harmony.

The past and the present are the future

The cinematograph was an amazing invention, right? It was patented back in 1895 by Auguste and Louis Lumière, the pioneers of the movie scene. The early movies were like 15 to 20 meters long—talk about old school! That huge object found its way into global entertainment, shaking things up big time. After a lot of changes, it morphed into those VHS tapes that took over people’s living rooms, and then shrunk down into those sleek DVDs. And now? Well, all our audiovisual needs are just a button away on our trusty Smart TV.
