Next 3 July, the Nagusi Intelligence Center – NIC will present its 9th special report by the Surveillance and Competitive Intelligence Service entitled "How to preserve independent living among the elderly”.

As one ages, maintaining autonomy becomes a priority for many individuals, particularly among the elderly. However, loss of functional, sensory, and cognitive functions, together with risks that may arise during the ageing process, sometimes make achieving this goal difficult.

To help present the special report, we will turn to the expert perspective of Dr. Sacramento Pinazo-Hernandis, Permanent Lecturer of Social Psychology at the University of Valencia. Dr. Sacramento Pinazo-Hernandis directs the psychosocial Intervention Research Group on life cycle care and ageing. Independent life is commonly defined as “an individual’s ability to make decisions on their own life and actively participate in the community, as established by law, while developing their personality”. In other words, independent life among the elderly is a delicate balance between autonomy and accepting assistance.

We will conclude the event with our usual work dynamic.
