The Nagusi Intelligence Center (NIC), together with the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the London School of Economics (LSE), is organising a technical training course aimed at professionals in the longevity economy and long-term care sectors who have demonstrable experience.

The course will take place at the Nagusi Intelligence Center (Urduliz) on 22 and 23 October 2026, from 09:00 to 17:00, and will be delivered by Adelina Comas-Herrera, Director of the Global Observatory of Long-Term Care; José-Luis Fernández, Director of the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre; and Martin Knapp, professor at the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the London School of Economics.

The course will be delivered in English and Spanish, with simultaneous interpretation.

Innovation and knowledge to improve care

The course will offer a broad overview of the role of care in the longevity economy, addressing both the major challenges associated with population ageing and the tools that can contribute to improving social care systems. It will explore issues such as Theory of Change, measuring care quality and outcomes and the use of administrative data to support decision-making.

In addition, the potential of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in long-term care systems will be analysed, as well as the available evidence of their effectiveness and the lessons learned from their implementation. The training course will be rounded off with an overview of economic evaluation as applied to care, its methods and the challenges involved in incorporating it into policy and practice.
