FALCONDALE
-
How many years have you been in operation?
Falcondale was founded in January 2024.
-
How many people are on your team?
Our team consists of Tomás Tagliani (COO), Javier Mancilla (COO), and Iraitz Montalbán (CTO). We have a network of collaborators: quantum researchers Christophe Pere and André Sequeira, and Hanna Back, who support us in business development and interaction with our partners.
-
What are your ambitions?
One of the biggest challenges facing small and medium-sized businesses is access to credit. New companies, in particular, often lack a credit history, making it difficult to assess whether they will be good payers. This leads to many being rejected, leaving them without the liquidity needed to advance their business. We want to solve this problem to facilitate a leading ecosystem with all the financing options for revolutionary new ideas.
-
What is your mission? Can you tell us a bit about your project?
To enable credit institutions to have a fair credit scoring system for new small and medium-sized businesses. The major problem we face is that even the most advanced techniques struggle to achieve good results. The data is scarce and has particularities that make it difficult to distinguish between good and bad payers. This distrust is contagious and leads to credit rejections in many cases. After many years in the financial sector, particularly in Fintech and Neobanks, and with the most disruptive technologies, we realized that these problems might be solved by "unconventional" computers. We discovered that quantum computing is indeed an ally for these problems.
-
What sets you apart?
By converting the data (which is scarce and makes it difficult to differentiate between good and bad payers) into quantum states and operating in that regime, we can better identify individuals, creating a more accurate system. This discovery, which we share with other sectors such as healthcare and materials engineering, is what led us to form Falcondale. We offer this product by removing any barriers to entry.

QUANTUM MADS
-
How many years have you been in operation?
Quantum Mads was founded in 2019 and officially established in 2020.
-
How many people are on your team?
We have a total of 9 people.
-
What are your ambitions?
We have many ambitions, but they can be summed up in a few words: to accelerate the adoption and integration of technologies like artificial intelligence and quantum computing in the challenges we face as a society and as a species.
-
What is your mission? Can you tell us a bit about your project?
We focus on developing solutions for optimization, prediction, and simulation problems. Our goal is to enhance the ability of individuals and organizations to make complex decisions based on analysis that leverages cutting-edge technology.
For example, in the financial sector, there is a need to determine the composition of a portfolio to maximize returns and minimize risk. We offer a recurring software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, utilizing quantum computing for this purpose. Another example is the creation of synthetic time series, which has multiple applications. Additionally, we have other developments addressing issues such as index replication and reconciliation problems. We also have a solution that leverages quantum computing to optimize the movement of empty containers between port agents within the logistics sector, and another solution for predicting solar energy production in photovoltaic plants.

A quote you'd like to share with the world
“Fall in love with some activity and do it! Nobody ever really figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Practically everything around us is interesting if you look deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do.” — Richard P. Feynman
QUANVIA
-
How many years have you been in operation?
Quanvia was founded in 2022 as a spin-off from UPV/EHU.
-
How many people are on your team?
Quanvia is led by its three co-founders: Enrique Solano is an Ikerbasque Professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and CEO of Kipu Quantum. José Rigol, on the other hand, is a Computer Engineer from ICAI with extensive experience in technological consulting and artificial intelligence and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Quantum Computing at the UPV/EHU. Finally, there is Jesús Domínguez. In January, we hired our first employee, and our goal is to add three more by the end of 2024.
-
What are your ambitions?
We were created to help bridge the gap between still-emerging quantum technologies and their application in real-world use cases that can bring value to our clients. After these two years of operation, we have identified a niche for developing quantum sensor products based on NV Centers and software based on AI and quantum machine learning. We dream of developing the first mass-use product in the world based on these technologies.
-
What is your mission? Can you tell us a bit about your project?
We are immersed in the development of different products through PoC (proof of concept). Our mission is to transform an industry (we hope to soon specify which one once our proof of concepts is completed) through quantum sensing. We want to develop and commercialize a mass-use product based on quantum sensing. We believe that from Bilbao, we can transform the world of quantum sensing.
-
What sets you apart?
The professional and academic background of the founding partners gives us a know-how that can be capitalized on. With all the humility in the world, but also with great ambition, we have a very clear roadmap to transform this industry from Bilbao. Additionally, the national and international networking access available to the company is enabling us to develop Proofs of Concept (PoCs) with top-tier players, which would be very difficult to access without the networking connections that Quanvia has.

-
How many people are on your team?
We currently have 7 people and are about to add 2 more.
-
What are your ambitions?
Without a doubt, we know we are exploring new territories and obtaining scientific evidence where we must act with the highest level of responsibility. A company like ours should not have a single economic orientation on its balance sheet. We must develop products that have the potential to attract talent and achieve social and environmental impact in addition to economic impact. Our ambition is to be an example of how to guide emerging technology for the common good, with a solid company, good results, triple impact, and international projection in various verticals.
-
What is your mission? Can you tell us a bit about your project?
We are a company initially focused on solving challenges through quantum sensing and metrology, with the support of other emerging technologies. We are working on a business orientation in areas where conventional technology is not providing effective solutions.
-
What sets you apart?
Our clear differentiating factor is our team. A dream team forged through slow, careful development. All around us, we see only a blue ocean.
