Structural funds are an instrument of Community policy to strengthen the economic, social and territorial cohesion of the European Union, to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and to reduce the differences between the various Community regions.

EU programmes

There is a wide variety of European funding programmes implemented through the Multiannual Financial Framework, the purpose of which is to support EU policies. To obtain funding, it is necessary to compete with other European partners and comply with the specific conditions of each programme. Some examples of these programmes are: Connecting Europe Facility, European Territorial Cooperation, LIFE, Horizon Europe, Creative Europe, Erasmus+ and Digital Europe.

The Bizkaia Provincial Council also competes in these programmes, and these are some of the co-financed projects.

  • 22-ES-TM-SAFEROAD2PORT

    Improving road access to the port of Bilbao and its connectivity with other important infrastructure in Bizkaia.

    • Aid granted to the (BPC):  €5.081.033.

    Promote the transition to a new generation of smart road transport and mobility services, thereby helping to secure European leadership in this area.

Anti-fraud mailbox

If it is necessary to inform this administration of any matters that could constitute irregularities, fraud, corruption, conflicts of interest or other inappropriate practices in relation to projects or operations financed with funds originating from the European Union, the channel set up for this purpose can be used by accessing the electronic mailbox dg.union.europea@bizkaia.eus

Communications received in this mailbox will be recorded and processed using an anonymised protocol that safeguards the identity of whistleblowers and those under investigation, in accordance with Organic Law 3/2018 of 5 December on the Protection of Personal Data and the Guarantee of Digital Rights.

In the event of detecting possible irregularities or suspected fraud, this administration undertakes to notify the relevant bodies and interested parties as soon as possible: National Anti-Fraud Coordination Service (NACS), the European Anti-Fraud Office (EAFO) and, where appropriate, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the competent courts. The procedure shall, in all cases, comply with the requirements and obligations established for this purpose by the applicable EU, national or regional regulations.
