On 26 September, the Nagusi Intelligence Center (NIC), will present the tenth case study by the Surveillance and Competitive Intelligence Service entitled “How chronic disease affects the ageing process”.

With the increase in life expectancy, various chronic conditions (both health and social) have increased along with it, which when combined can cause varying degrees of complications and frailty. The chronicity of these conditions is becoming progressively more pronounced. The result is a higher prevalence of long-term, slowly progressive conditions, especially in older people.

To present the case study, we will have the expert insight of Xavier Bayona, from the Catalan Institute of Health, who is a doctor specialising in family and community medicine and an expert in clinical and health management. The best strategy for tackling chronic illness must be progressive and must focus on objectives to be updated over time with the participation of the patient and caregivers. The person should always be at the centre of the approach to care and whenever possible should be involved in the decisions regarding their care process.

We will end the session with our usual working dynamics.
