But in reality, the first true online purchase was made by Dan Kohn, an American teenager who had a friend nearly 500 km away and wanted to sell him Sting’s Ten Summoner’s Tales album. And he did! It wasn’t easy, but with his knowledge and a bit of help from his startup, Phil Brandenburger managed to get the website to accept his VISA card, successfully purchasing the CD for $12.48.
