We played Taboo on December 25, 2022 (thanks, Olentzero). With the pressure of the ticking clock, I picked up a card and looked at the word: “scientist.” “Taboo” words that I can’t say: “invention,” “science,” “experiment,” and “laboratory.” It’s not so easy. TICK TOCK. “Lab coat, study,” TICK TOCK. “Older gentleman, beard, disheveled hair.” You answer, “Scientist!” “Right.” And yet, we’ve both lost the game.

That would be the (perhaps perpetuated) description of a scientist given by a high school student in 1957 (Mead and Metraux, 1957).
