The Digital Library at the Bizkaia Provincial Council Library is a project designed to share the Library's remarkable collection with users from all over the world. Images corresponding to the Reserve Collection are being continually added to this section. So when users consult the catalogue, they will immediately be able to access the added digitalised collection. Why not take a virtual browse around the Library and enjoy its growing contents?
The Collection
The Digital Library catalogue comprises the items in the Reserve collection of the Regional Library, which are gradually being digitised. This collection largely contains editions printed in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a remarkable set of 38 incunabula dating from before the year 1501.
The oldest item available in the Digital Library is an incunabulum by Johannes Gerson dating from c. 1472, entitled :"De Simonia; De probatione Spirituum; De eruditione confessorum; De remediis contra recidivum peccandi."
The collection largely contains titles in Basque, Latin and Spanish.
Of particular relevance is the Basque Reserve collection, which contains titles in Basque by J.A. Mogel, Agustín Cardaberaz, Sebastián de Mendiburu and Pedro de Axular, among others.
