Walkers moving without walking

Human figures painted on trees Human figures painted on trees, from another view

Men that come, men that go, climbing up the slopes and passing through the forest. They remain still, yet they move, moving without walking or walking in line without touching the ground. As some appear, others disappear. They are people from society, from the past, from the “distant past” and from the present. The people from the Santimamiñe cave, from the factories, running from the police in demonstrations. They are the men Ibarrola painted in his pictures and later took to his forest.

The game begins and as we move to the right, what appears to be a single figure becomes several, in a composition that the artist himself refers to as “3 in 1”.
