Service aimed at
- Users of the Biscay Provincial Library, in order to obtain loaned originals or partial copies of documents that are not available in their own collection.
- Other Libraries, in order to supply original or partial reproductions of documents belonging to the Biscay Provincial Library collection.

Service to other libraries
Through this service, the Library offers the possibility to supply other libraries with documentation that belongs to its collection.
Request the service:
- In person at the Library.
- By sending an e-mail.
It is important that the reference of the required documents is provided as fully as possible, including the source, where possible.
Operation of the service
The service finds the location of the documents using manual and on-line catalogues and requests them from the libraries or supply centres that have them both in Spain and abroad.
When the original documents are received, the user is notified, who can consult them subject to the conditions established by the lending library.
The costs of inter-library loans will be borne by the petitioner who will be advised of the amount due when making the request.
Service to other libraries
Through this service, the Library offers the possibility of providing other libraries with documentation that it has in its collections. Requests from individuals will not be handled.

Documents excluded from the inter-library lending service
The following documents may not be loaned: periodical publications, manuscripts, documents printed before 1956, photographs, engravings, maps and plans, rare and/or large format books, special collections, etc.
Duration of the loan
1 month; this can be extended subject to a justifiable request for an extension.
Consultation conditions
The books loaned by the Biscay Provincial Library always have to be consulted in the designated rooms in the library, and no lending for use at home is permitted.
They may not be reproduced.
Tariffs and conditions of carriage
The loan service is free, with the Biscay Provincial Library assuming the costs of sending the document to the requesting library, which will take place via ordinary registered post and in padded envelopes.
The costs of sending documents to the Biscay Provincial Library will be assumed by the requesting library, returning them using the same conditions of carriage, that is to say, via registered post and in padded envelopes.
