Information

The UNESCO Public Library Manifesto (1994) states that the Library should enable progress in the use of information and its handling via computerised means. The authors of the Manifiesto, aware of this problem, remind us that it is necessary to set up outreach and user education programmes for the purpose of helping them benefit from all the resources.

The objective of the user training sessions, as well as the inclusion of training materials on the Library website, is so that any person who wishes, especially new users, can acquire the necessary knowledge to easily discover the library, learn about its services, sections and tools available and enable users to access the information.

With the objective that users acquire more information about the library, as well as being able to make the most of all the possibilities that are on offer, the Provincial Library has organised the following straining sessions:

  • Official gazettes: a training session aimed at helping the users to access the information contained in the various official gazettes, and even more so at a time in which electronic information-sharing is prevailing over paper.
    Duration: 60 minutes.
  • Electronic resources: training that includes two parts; consulting the catalogue and the library website.
    Duration: 60 minutes.
  • Sources of information: to take the maximum advantage of the resources that the library makes available to the users, it is fundamental to know about and know how to use the different sources of information that are available.
    Duration: 60 minutes.

Registration:

  • Registration takes place at the information desk in the library, located on the ground floor.
  • It can also be done by e-mail using the e-mail address of the library as follows: foru_liburutegia@bizkaia.eus.
  • Or by using our on-line Services.

SELF-TRAINING

This area is dedicated to information training. Here the library offers the user resources and materials in order to help the user familiarise him- or herself with the library and use the information resources by self-directed learning. It must not be forgotten that if any help is needed, the user can contact the library.
