The Provincial Council Chairman welcomes the leading international stakeholders attending the “Bizkaia Silver Week”

This evening, Unai Rementeria hosted a reception at the Provincial Council Building for representatives of the UN, the European Commission and the AAL (The Active and Assisted Living), who are attending the different Bizkaia Silver Week events. Institutional representatives of the Basque Government, Bilbao City Council and the Bizkaia Older Persons Council were also there.

The Bizkaia Provincial Council Chairman, Unai Rementeria, hosted a reception at the Provincial Council Building for representatives of the European institutions who are attending the different Bizkaia Silver Week events this week.

Rementeria there stressed the role of Bizkaia as an active stakeholder in the global conversation about demographic age, active ageing and the silver economy. The Provincial Council Chairman explained that even though population ageing is a challenge, it is also an opportunity.

The Director of Statistical Division - UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), Lidia Bratanov, the Director of Population Affairs - UNECE, Vitalija Gaucaite, the AAL Deputy President (Active and Assisted Living), Alain Thielemans, and the AAL Director, Klaus Niederlander, also attended the reception.  Rementeria thanked them for their valuable contributions to the important discussion forum that Bizkaia had become this week.

The Basque Minister for Employment and Social Policies, Beatriz Artolazabal, the Basque Minister for Health, Jon Darpón, the Councillor for the Mayor’s Office, Contracting and Human Resources at Bilbao City Council, Gotzone Sagardui, and representatives of the Bizkaia Older Persons also attended the event at the Provincial Council Building.
